Check through the following:

1. Is the event taking place in September?
2. Is it a film screening or have connection to film/moving image in some way?
3. Are you the organiser?

If yes to all three, proceed!

To submit an event, you will first need to register an online account

(Please note, this is a new system introduced in 2017, so previous Scalarama organisers from 2016 and earlier will need to create a new account)

You just need to pick a username and email address, then the site will send you an email to confirm, and with a link to pick your password, and then you will be logged in, or be able to log in at the link in the Meta menu at the very bottom of the website.

Once logged in you, you’ll be able to SUBMIT an event to the calendar

You can save your progress but to be prepared the form will ask you for the following information:

Event Title, Event Description, Start and End Time and Date (and if the event is repeated), Venue details, Event Website, Certificate and Event cost. You can also use Categories and Tags to make you event more findable. You can upload an event image (we recommend landscape images of at least 600 px wide)

The form will also ask for Organiser details including your organisation (if applicable) and website. Please only put a phone number and email address if you are happy for these to be listed on the site.

New to this year, we also ask you consider the accessibility of your screening – so let us know if the venue is suitable for wheelchairs, if the screening is d/Deaf, autism or dementia friendly and whether there are free/low cost tickets for carers or concessions. If you do offer concessionary (reduced price) tickets, we recommend writing out who this applies to in your event description.

Submitted events will be reviewed by a member of the Scalarama team and put up online as soon as possible. They’ll get in touch on the email provided if there is any more information needed. If the event is not online within 24 hours or you do not hear from the team, use the contact page to get in touch.

Once your event has been confirmed and added to the website, get promoting! Scalarama will be promoting the event as part of the season including creating national news coverage, a bespoke newspaper with all the listings and social media promotions, but all event organisers are encouraged to take charge of their own publicity or work with other local organisers to co-promote.
