Directed by Women 2018
Teaming up with our sister season Directed by Women for the fourth year to celebrate films made by female filmmakers. It’s also a month long party which everyone is invited to.
And what could be better on Agnes Varda‘s 90th birthday to announce that we are partnering with Curzon Artificial Eye to celebrate this great director’s career. This summer, Curzon will be re-releasing eight of her best known films on glorious 4K DCPs. Find out more about this amazing retrospective and how to get involved here >>>
To join in with the Directed by Women celebrations, seek out screenings in your area of films made by women and be part of the conversation on how to see more female-told stories on screen. This year, Scalarama will also be tagging films on offer from distributors with the F-Rated tag, which highlights works made (directed or written) by female filmmakers.
Throughout the preparation weeks before Scalarama, there will be articles and recommendations of films that can be screened for September, and we’ll highlight any exhibitors who are taking up the challenge to show more films Directed by Women this year.
