Stories of high times and hard luck\, of love and hope\, of dreams and heartbreak\, of wrongdoing and retribution. \nReel Stories shines the spotlight on the city’s enduring relationship with the silver screen. We celebrate and explore the films that are undeniably Liverpudlian\, those that feature Liverpool as a world film location and the city’s escapist love affair with cinema itself.

DESCRIPTION:Scalarama is an annual DIY celebration of Cinema\, for everyone\, by everyone\, everywhere\, every September.  \nLove films? Would you like to nurture a more vibrant\, more diverse film culture in Glasgow? Whether you already organise film screenings (or want to)\, programme a cinema/festival/venue or have no idea at all where to start – come along to the Old Hairdressers to get involved in Scalarama 2017. \nIn 2016\, Glasgow exhibitors screened everything from Beyond The Valley of the Dolls to a VHS Trash Triple Bill – documentaries\,  shorts\, concert films\, arthouse\, action and romance – in venues ranging from a Bearsden living room to the Planetarium at Glasgow Science Centre.  \nCheck out the full Glasgow 2016 brochure: http://bit.ly/2nScxsp. \nMore information on Scalarama Glasgow here: http://bit.ly/2nzPX5z \nScalarama’s key aims: \n• Celebrating watching films together\n• Reducing barriers to entry\n• Linking practicing exhibitors\n• Empowering people to put on films\n• Reaching out to a wider audience\n• Encouraging adventure in cinema \nNB The Old Hairdressers is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The plan is to cycle the locations of these meet-ups between key Scalarama venues across Glasgow (e.g. last month’s Scalarama: I Want To Be A Cinema (GSFF17) was at CCA and the next will hopefully be somewhere South). The Hairdressers is one of the few Glasgow venues that can and has easily/successfully facilitated DIY screenings in the past and continues to do so\, and that’s why it’s been chosen for this meeting.
