Reel Girl Film Club presents a screening of satirical teen romantic comedy But I’m A Cheerleader, at The Pink Room in YES, Manchester.
Director Jamie Babbit’s debut feature film follows all-American high school cheerleader, Megan (Natasha Lyonne) who is sent to a conversion therapy camp when her parents suspect her to be a lesbian. There she meets and falls in love with the rebellious Graham (Clea DuVall) and together they begin to challenge the camp’s doctrine. Colourful, whimsical and poignant, But I’m a Cheerleader promises to make you laugh, while also examining the important issues around sexuality, identity and gender roles.
